I work with students who are interested in medical informatics, clinical NLP, real-world evidence, and the evaluation of AI systems in healthcare.

Projects in the lab involve electronic health records, unstructured text, and patient-generated data. Most work combines methodological development with applied problems in clinical settings.

  • Strong interest in problem formulation, not just model building
  • Comfort working with messy, real-world data
  • Willingness to think carefully about validity, bias, and evaluation

Students in the lab are expected to develop both methodological rigor and independence. Projects often involve ambiguity, and part of the work is defining the problem clearly.

If you are interested in working with me, please email with a brief description of your background and research interests.
